DIT-MCO’s 2500.FTE (Fiber Test Equipment) is the first test system specifically designed for use within the electrical testing environment. With more and more aerospace companies incorporating fiber optic cables, the need for integrity testing becomes crucial. Most aerospace manufacturers produce a small number of fiber optic cables (sometimes even mixing fiber with copper wiring in the same cable). Hand wringing fiber optic cabling can be very damaging due to its sensitivity to dirt, nicks in the protective covering and crimping; all producing losses while increasing production times.

Bi-directional ports means fewer hookups during testing and reduced risk of damage to sensitive fibers.

DIT-MCO’s 2500.FTE measures losses in decibels with an accuracy range of ±0.5db (plus connector variation). Typical aerospace multi-mode fibers in the 100/140 micron range down to smaller fibers of the 50 to 62 micron range can be tested. Wavelengths are in the 850nm range. DIT-MCO’s fiber chassis contains 16 TX/RX (bi-directional) modules for a total of 32 ports and is expandable up to 128 ports. Test directives are programmed directly into new or existing electrical test program files providing a seamless transition to fiber optic testing.

Close up of 2500.FTE interface Field upgrades are also possible for existing Series 2500 analyzers. As you see your needs growing into fiber optic cables, DIT-MCO is ready to provide workable, cost effective solutions. To utilize this new option you simply program the transmit and receiver ports, set the limits and you're ready to test. Adapter cables connect to a bulkhead connector leading to the test system, for easy access and set up.

Control of this operation is maintained through DIT-MCO's TestExecutive® for seamless integration into present test procedures. Measured values are available on screen and can also be printed to file or printer for evaluation and analysis. The error report includes measurements for both fiber and electrical testing procedures for an all-inclusive summary of results.

Assembly Specifications
Each individual assembly holds 16 boards, with each board having 2 ports for a total of 32 ports per assembly unit expandable up to 128 ports. These ports are bi-directional and can either receive or transmit. The assembly units are easily rack-mounted into standard DIT-MCO cabinetry making fiber optic an easy expansion option.

Test Programming
Optical testing is coded in test programming as an instrument allowing fiber testing to be seamlessly incorporated into standard electrical testing. A unique addressing sequence calls out fiber in the test program. Control of this operation is maintained through DIT-MCO's analyzer control software TestExecutive®.

To generate a fiber test, you simply program the transmit and receiver ports, set the limits (i.e. A, OPT, 2D...) and you are ready to test. Adapter cables connect to the bulkhead connector leading to the test system for easy access and setup.

Output data includes typical Address Correspondence Tables and error reports with measurements for both fiber and electrical testing for an all-inclusive summary of results.
