Manufacturing Capabilities
Design Documentation Drafting
Offers design support and production information for product development and orders. The drafting staff creates and produces engineering drawings and any needed information (government and industrial specifications) for your order.
Electrical Component Fabrication
DIT-MCO fabricates a wide range of electrical components. Lean Manufacturing concepts are incorporated into many of the processes to improve quality, reduce lead time, and keep costs low. We assemble printed circuit boards, cables, chassis, control panels, etc. found in DITMCO's test systems. Fabricating our own electrical parts aids in quality control, meeting tight delivery schedules, and customizing your product. Equipment used in electrical fabrication:
- Pinning Equipment: 20 Pneumatic pinners with tooling for over 100 different pins. This covers AMP, 3M, Bery, Molex, and IDC tools with 40 different adapters. All tools are routinely certified to ensure quality terminations.
- Wave Solder Machine
- Shinmaywa fully automated wire processing machine (Cut-Strip-Terminate)
- Aqueous PCB Wash System
- Test Equipment: DIT-MCO's own test equipment offers quality control. A variety of high voltage cable test systems offer both AC and DC test capability with voltages up to 1500VAC. Testsysterns products provide passive in-circuit test.
- Bench Test Equipment: Megohmeters, oscilliscopes, DVOM's, power supplies, microhmmeters, etc. calibrated and traceable to national standards are used to check DIT-MCO's finished product.
Assembly
With final assembly capabilities, DIT-MCO can manufacture systems tailored to your specific needs. These systems incorporate DIT-MCO produced electrical and mechanical fabricated components with commercially available components.
Materials
DIT-MCO stocks over 500,000 feet of Teflon, Kynar and PVC wire in standard gauges. DIT-MCO's distributors offers 48-hour availability for most standard types of wire. This helps us meet tight delivery schedules. Our volume also offers you cost-effective adapter cables you can order when you order your test system. With over 9,000 square feet of dedicated inventory space for commonly used items, DIT-MCO has the materials on hand to build and deliver systems to meet your schedule.
CAD/CAM
Provides automated design support and production tooling services required for product development and orders. The staff creates, produces, and maintains design documentation and manufacturing process data including:
- Computer-generated schematics
- Printed circuit boards (PCBs) artwork
- Component insertions
- Automated test
- Metal fabrication
To produce cost-efficient, accurate designs the staff uses:
- CalComp 1044 size D penplotter to produce schematics and PCB/PCA checkplots and fabrication drawings.
- Data I/O Model 29A Universal Programmer to assemble and produce PROM, EPROM, and PAL firmware.
- PADS PCB to create double and multi-layer PCBs designs. It also supplies complete design data to the board fabricator.
- Networked computers for schematic design, manufacturing drawings, test program generation, firmware production, and work processing.
Mechanical Component Fabrication
Machine and Metal Shop
Staff averages 11 years experience in the use of punch presses, press brakes, end mills, lathes, shop saws, welding (MIG and TIG), sanding equipment, band saws, and other equipment necessary to turn out quality precision items.
Personnel work with cold rolled steel, aluminum, stainless steel, fiberglass, and other materials used in DIT-MCO's products.
Employees are cross-trained to operate all functions. This team approach ensures continuous improvement and high quality.
Manufacturing our own metal and non-metal parts maintains quality control over chassis, cabinets, cables, and fixtures. It also ensures consistency, materials control, and meeting aggressive delivery schedules. A partial equipment listing follows:
- Excellon XL-3 Drilling Machine
- Excellon X- 132 Drilling Machine
- Bridgeport Mills, ( Series I and Series 2 Specials)
- Wedemann: a 30-ton, P.C. controlled punch press for cold rolled steel, stainless steel and aluminum.
- Di-Acro 55-ton hydraulic press brake facilitates various bends found in our product. It allows tooling of various sizes and lengths.
- Atomic Spot Welder joins up to 12-gauge metal.
- MIG and TIG Welders work with steel and aluminum.
- Cordax, X & Y Measurement system.
Paint Shop
We paint cabinetry, front panels, and other structural items used in a variety of analyzers and fixtures. This in-house paint shop maintains product quality and consistency. The paint booth is filtered to have minimal impact on the environment. In addition, environmentally safe water based primers and top coats are used to give a long lasting, quality finish.
